Suspended Cowboys DE Randy Gregory Set To File Petition For Reinstatement

SportsDaly: According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the suspended defensive end will petition the league for reinstatement from his indefinite suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Gregory is expected to submit the paperwork in the next week to 10 days.

When Randy Gregory is on the field he is dominant. In 14 games last season he had 19 tackles, 6 sacks. Solid. But here is a stat for you. He was drafted in the 2nd second round in 2015 and since that time he has been suspended FOUR times. That is one suspension per year.  Not great. He was also reinstated just last July after missing the previous 30 of 32 games due to suspensions.

Obviously, this is a very similar situation to the Browns and Josh Gordon. Eventually they said enough was enough. Let’s find a younger, cheaper player who wants to keep his nose clean and work his ass off. It’s probably about time the Cowboys to do the same with Randy.  I get the time and money invested in him makes it tough but are we just going to do this every year? Why not let Taco or Armstrong prove they have the talent to be a starter in the league? From all accounts both guys seem to be hard workers and have the potential to be impact players. If Randy’s reinstated, he’s going to have good trade value and we might as well cash in on that value before he’s inevitably suspended a fifth time.Â
