The Astros would stop at nothing to land a starting pitcher before the trade deadline, and in the final seconds they actually fuckin pulled it off, acquiring Zach Greinke from the Diamondbacks.
What a move. In the trade, the Diamondbacks only get the Stros #3-5 prospects. The prospects being 1B/OF Seth Beer, righty J.B. Bukauskas, and right-handed Corbin Martin as well as Josh Rojas, the Stros 24th ranked prospect. You probably don’t know these people and neither do I. We probably never will.
The Diamondbacks did send $24 million to the Astros to get the deal done and help pay some of Greinke’s contract, which has the highest annual average value amongst starting pitchers. But at the end of the day who care about $24 million because as we all know, a World Series, priceless.
