As of today, January 4, 2020, Jason Garrett is still the Cowboys head coach:

Also as of today, January 4, 2020, Jerry Jones has officially interviewed Mike McCarthy and Marvin Lewis to be the Cowboys head coach:
Jerry! You dog!
Obviously, it’s no secret Jerry is known to be a man who likes to run around town:

But to do so openly and in the same building as the man he’s been with for 17 years (9 coaching and 8 as a player)? Bold. So much so that you almost have to respect the move.
Now, as to Jerry’s new prospects, McCarthy has been on my wish list since the Cowboys final game of the season:
Personally, I like the move. I get Mike McCarthy is not exactly the “sexy” hire. Of my top 5 candidates, he’s probably the one that is likely to cause the least amount of media frenzy if hired. But isn’t that what the Cowboys need? Less ridiculous distractions like the ones we had to endure this past season.
Not to mention McCarthy has been preparing all season for this opportunity and has an entire staff ready to go at a whistles notice:
But the biggest reason I like McCarthy as the Boys next head coach is the guys a winner:
Haters will want to point to the fact McCarthy had Aaron Rodgers during his time in Greenbay. That without Rodgers his a mediocre coach at best. But the Cowboys have their own Aaron Rogers. Dak Prescott. Ever heard of him? And at this point in their careers, I’d argue most people would put Dak above Rogers in a power ranking.
When it comes to Marvin Lewis, not so much. As the Bengals’ head coach from 2003 to 2018, he went 131-122-3 and was 0-7 postseason. In the words of the ever so inspirational and dazzling Ariana Grande; Thank you, next.
