Look, I’m a Dak Prescott stan. But the dude is demanding $40+ million a year and you’re going to have a hard time convincing me or Jerry Jones that he’s worth it. After all, there’s a reason he still doesn’t have a contract.
While there’s no doubt Dak has played well in his four years in the NFL, there’s also no doubt he’s not Patrick Mahomes. He’s not Lamar Jackson. He’s not Russell Wilson. I don’t even think he beats out an aging Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady.
Really, he’s an above average QB1, with solid stats and a 1-2 playoff record. Yawn.
I get there are other factors contributing to the Boys playoff record and appearances (or lack there of) aka Jason Garrett, but at the end of the day all of the top QB1 in this league deal with shitty coaches, injuries, etc and they still make the playoffs year in and year out. Why can’t Dak?
And in a salary cap league, when you aren’t making the playoffs, you aren’t worth $40 million a year.
Enter Tua Tagovailoa.
The dude is a sure fire top NFL QB1. I don’t think a single NFL scout disagrees. And the guy clearly wants to be in Dallas. Luckily for the Boys, due to his injury there’s a small chance he could fall to a high top 10 pick. Could the Cowboys potentially jump up from their 17th overall pick and grab him? I don’t know but I would LOVE to see it.
Think about all the weapons we could bring in, if rather than paying Dak, we had Tua as our QB1 under a rookie contract for three years?!
It’s Jerry’s world and we’re just living in it.
