To Absolutely No One’s Surprise, Sam Ehlinger Has Been Voted ‘Big 12 Best Returning Player’

Sam Ehlinger was completely dominate last season, popping off for 3,662 passing yds, 663 rushing yds and 32 TDs. So, really this should come as no surprise to anyone with a brain who watches college football.

His 332.8 yards of total offense per game ranked 4th nationally behind only Washington State’s Anthony Gordon (427.6), LSU’s Joe Burrow (394.2) and Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts (367.8).

With Gordon, Burrow and Hurts now all entering the NFL draft, that makes Ehlinger the No. 1 returning QB1 in college football with the highest total offense per game last season.

Not to mention, Ehlinger capped off the season with strong numbers and momentum, accounting for 431 total yards and 3 touchdowns in the regular season finale win over Texas Tech, and following that up with 274 total yards and 4 touchdowns in the Alamo Bowl win over No. 12 Utah. Big time.

Still not impressed though, haters? How about this:

Sam Ehlinger. 2019-20 season:

Passing efficiency: top 20
Completion percentage: top 20
Completions per game: top 15
Passing TDs: top 10
Passing yards: top 10
Passing yards/game: top 15
Points responsible for: top 10
Points responsible for per game: top 10

Damn. What a badass.

And for the Aggies chirping that Ehliger isn’t the best returning player in the Big 12, that if you were still in our conference, Kellen Mond would take the top spot, let me fill you in on a fun fact — there is not a single football player in Texas A&M’s entire 125 year program history who has more Total Yard and Total Touchdown in their career than Sam Ehlinger. Pretty fun fact, huh?
