San Antonio Spurs

Gregg Popovich Told Lonnie Walker He’s Not Allowed To Go To The River Walk Until The Spurs Win A Championship

Poor Lonnie may go his whole life without ever seeing the inside of Dick’s Last Resort. Sad stuff.

I’m not trying to bash Pop either for laying down the law. I respect the move. He wants to motivate his young stars. No one gets to enjoy the beautiful sights and smells of the San Antonio River Walk unless it’s on a Championship float. I’m sure Pop said the same thing to Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, etc when they first entered the league.

But the problem with enforcing the River Walk Rule now is that the Spurs are no longer the Spurs. The reign is over. They’re in rebuilding mode for the unforeseeable future. And that’s assuming the game of basketball is ever played again.

So, it really fair to ban Lonnie from the River Walk? Or more importantly, is it fair to the River Walk to ban a man who’s hair brings so much swag, drip, pizazz and fashion that it single handedly can rebuild the entire River Walk bars/restaurants economy?
