Today via twitter, Mac McClung made his decision to transfer to Tech official. Which I guess shouldn’t come as a shock being Chris Beard has absolutely been DOMINATING the recruiting game.
Now, for those who don’t follow college baskeball or YouTube highlight reels — McClung — an unassuming white boy — is one of the most prolific, high-flying, acrobatic, dunking machines you will ever see:
But while his highschool highlight mixtapes put him on the map, it was his in game play (average 37 points a game) that earned him scholarship offers from all over the country. McClung of course ended up at Georgetown, where his dunking and fanbase only got bigger, and over the last two seasons he became Georgetown’s leading scorer, as well as focal point of their offense.
But when college basketball came to an end this season, McClung immediately declared for the NBA draft. Which was definitely a surprising decision. Because while McClung has shown flashes of greatness over the last two years, most scouts did not have him as NBA ready.
So after receiving feedback from several NBA teams, McClung ended up walking back his decision to enter the draft and instead opted to enter the transfer portal.
And once his name hit the portal, it was one of the biggest stories of the offseason. Star athletes everywhere, both college and pro, began trying to recruit McClung to their school. But it looks like McClung is a sucker for Super Bowl MVPs — because when Patrick Mahomes came calling, Mac officially answered the call.
